Inclusive VAWA

The Coalition to Domestic Violence is a strong proponent of fully inclusive domestic violence policies, programs, and services. In 2011, we proposed a series of legislative changes to end sex discriminatory practices. As a result, the language of the 2013 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act was amended to be sex-neutral. As Attorney General Eric Holder noted, “I applaud Congress for passing a bipartisan reauthorization that protects everyone – women and men, gay and straight, children and adults of all races, ethnicities, countries of origin, and tribal affiliations.”
