Men Are the Backbone of Civilization

  • “If civilization had been left in female hands, we would still be living in grass huts.” — Camille Paglia
  • “Without men, there would be no civilization.” — Matt Walsh
  • “Strong men are the backbone of our society.” —  Layah Heilpern

Men and women possess equal rights. But men and women have important physical, social, and psychological differences, even including their brain structure. For these reasons, men and women play roles in society that are different and complementary.

Men are the backbone of civilization in four ways: Fathers, Peacemakers, Workers, and Warriors.

FATHERS

The term “nuclear family” is derived from the word “nucleus,” referring to the core of something. So the nuclear family, consisting of a father, mother, and children, is the basis of society. Anthropological research likewise confirms that the nuclear family is the most basic and universal unit of social organization.

According to a UNICEF report on child well-being, kids in the US, Canada, and the UK rank low in social and emotional well-being. A largely ignored factor among policymakers is the devastating effects of father’s absence in children’s lives.

Fathers make unique and important contributions to a child’s development by providing a parenting style that fosters risk-taking, problem-solving through open-ended questions, physical activity, and emotional regulation.

PEACEMAKERS

“Every society needs to give men the opportunity to play the hero. It must praise the men who risk their physical safety for the greater good—not only the ones who are rescue workers or soldiers, but also the ones stringing power lines or drilling for oil or harvesting food, providing society with the necessities to run. We must also value the men who protect and build and solve. The carpenters, the engineers, the husbands, fathers, and truckers.” — Chris Arnade, All Men Want to Be Heroes

WARRIORS

A vigorous military is essential to the protection of society. A strong majority of persons who serve in the military are men:
