Virginia Set to Launch Advisory Committee for Men and Boys
WASHINGTON / October 22, 2025 – Last week Virginia lawmakers held a press conference to announce a ground-breaking plan to establish the Virginia Advisory Commission for Men and Boys. House Speaker Don Scott, Del. Josh Thomas, Del. Michael Feggans, Sen. Lashrecse Aird, and Sen. Lamont Bagby made the announcement in the General Assembly building on Tuesday (1).
Delegate Thomas announced boldly, “Today is a declaration that Virginia will not stand by and lose a generation of men, whether they be young, middle-aged, or seniors. All men here in the Commonwealth are valuable…the men and boys in Virginia matter.”

Other states have launched similar programs in recent months:
- California established the California Men’s Service Challenge to engage men in community service efforts (4).
- Connecticut issued a Proclamation that recognizes the problem of false allegations (5).
- Maryland Gov. Wes Moore issued a statement “Directing my entire administration to begin implementing targeted solutions to uplift our men and boys.” (6)
- Michigan has established an outreach program to boost the enrollment of young men in higher education and skills training programs (7).
- Utah Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah created a Task Force on the Wellbeing of Men and Boys (8).
On November 5, a conference titled “Breaking Through: Advancing Equality for Men and Boys” will be held in Washington, DC. The event will begin with a Press Conference consisting of lawmakers from Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Maryland.
