Rape Hoax

Rape is a real problem in America. “Rape hoax” refers to the actions of persons who seek to distort and politicize the sexual assault issue:

  1. Expand definitions of sexual assault, thus trivializing the severity of rape
  2. Expound myths and falsehoods about sexual assault
  3. Indulge in over-wrought language such as “rape culture
  4. Promote ineffective policies such as Affirmative Consent
  5. Treat women as being incapable of saying “no” to amorous requests
  6. Oppose common-sense rape-prevention measures such as not drinking to excess, claiming these actions serve to “blame the victim”
  7. Ignore the plight of persons at greatest risk of rape: low-income, single, young Black women (See Female Victims of Sexual Violence, 1994-2010, Table 1)
  8. Ignore the fact that false allegations of rape diminish the credibility of future victims
  9. Seek to remove the presumption of innocence for the accused and ridicule the need for due process
  10. Insist that we always “believe the victim,” when the real victim may turn out to be the person wrongfully accused
