Chapter Criteria
1. Contact Person:
a. Be willing to be a contact person for your state and receive email messages from interested persons
b. Return email messages within one day
c. Participate in monthly DVLP teleconferences (currently held the second Tuesday of each month at 9pm Eastern time)
d. Provide a short report at the teleconference on the number of messages received and other activities of interest
2. Interest Group:
a. Continue to meet all criteria for the Contact Person (above)
b. Have at least 3-5 persons in the state who are interested in working for DV reform, consistent with the 10 SAVE Principles: http://www.saveservices.org/principles/
c. These persons are interacting on at least a monthly basis in some manner (e.g., teleconference, Yahoo group, mutual sharing of contact information)
3. Provisional Chapter:
a. Continue to meet all criteria for the Contact Person and Interest Group (above)
b. Have 3 persons designated as President, Secretary, and Treasurer (or similar leadership roles)
c. Have a defined legislative agenda
d. Sign a Memorandum of Understanding with SAVE:
i. The Provisional Chapter is legally and financially independent from SAVE
ii. The Provisional Chapter and SAVE will work cooperatively for the mutual benefit of both parties to promote domestic violence policies consistent with the 10 Principles: http://www.saveservices.org/principles/
iii. Actively supports SAVE’s fund-raising efforts iv. The Provisional Chapter intends to work towards recognition as a Full Chapter
v. Make plans to create own website
4. Full Chapter:
a. Continue to meet all criteria for the Contact Person, Interest Group, and Provisional Chapter for at least 6 months (above)
b. Sign an Agreement with SAVE that includes elements i., ii., and iii. of the Memorandum of Understanding, plus:
i. The President of the Full Chapter is a voting member of the SAVE Board of Directors
ii. Have an operational website
