An update in a bizarre case of a former Domestic Abuse Counselor first telling police one of her clients kidnapped and beat her.

But then Police filed criminal charges against her saying the story was made up to cover up an affair the counselor was having with the client. In her downtown Bellefonte Office Cindy Brumbaugh specialized in Domestic Violence Counseling mainly with court appointed clients.

Last spring she began counseling a man who eventually according to her abducted her to Shamokin and then beat her.

But Police say after further questioning Brumbaugh admitted she was having a consensual relationship with the client and she paid for a motel room in Shamokin. Police theorized she made up the abduction and assault story to cover up the affair.
