SAVE is leading the fight against domestic violence misinformation.
A recent example of a misguided DV crusade is the Avon Foundation for Women’s “See The Signs” campaign. When we asked Avon about their misleading and inflammatory message, “But He Hasn’t Hit Me Yet,” they gave this answer: “For ease of communicating the signs to our social media audience — which is 93% women — the campaign positions the woman as the victim.”
If you think that’s bad, wait until you see the recently introduced International Violence Against Women Act. After the years of SAVE advocating to make VAWA truly inclusive, I-VAWA would only help female victims, even though studies in 85 countries show domestic violence is an equal opportunity problem for men and women around the world: http://www.saveservices.org/dvlp/policy-briefings/partner-abuse-worldwide/

On behalf of every victim who has ever been ignored, ridiculed, or turned away, thank you for caring.
