Syracuse, NY — A Syracuse man was stabbed in the chest by his girlfriend Tuesday morning at a South Avenue home, police said.
The 6:10 a.m. stabbing left victim, Gregory Moore, 52, with a laceration to his heart, said Sgt. Tom Connellan.
The stabbing happened after Moore got into a fight with his girlfriend, Crystal Ash, 39, of 127 South Ave., at her residence, police said.
He was rushed to Upstate University Hospital for emergency surgery to repair the damage to his heart, Connellan said.
Moore was in critical condition Tuesday morning but is expected to survive, police said.
Ash violated a court order of protection that said she could not harass, annoy or assault Moore, Connellan said.
She was charged with felony assault and aggravated criminal contempt, as well as misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
She was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center jail until arraignment. The investigation is ongoing.
