The Concord Police told Dava Steen killed Danny Bennett last November at her home on Wren Avenue in Concord. Bennett was originally thought to have died of natural causes after suffering an illness, but in January, Detectives were contacted by a potential witness alleging the death was in fact a homicide caused by the victim’s long term girlfriend.

In the following days Detectives obtained additional evidence supporting and corroborating the fact the girlfriend had suffocated (smothered him with a pillow) and killed the victim during a physical altercation, according to the Concord Police.

Steen claimed she was the victim of domestic violence, saying Bennett abused her over a long period of time, according to the Chronicle.

Two weeks after the killing, Steen posted the following message about Bennett on her Facebook page….

For all that new me in the last 23 years I’d like to let you know that my beloved partner of 23 years Danny Ray died two weeks ago.
