Zanesville resident found not guilty on domestic violence charges

ZANESVILLE — Richard Neal Nesselroad spent two days in trial in a Muskingum County Common Pleas court, accused of two counts of domestic violence. The jury found Nesselroad, 27, of Zanesville, not guilty on both counts…

…McClelland said after speaking with jury members at the end of the trial Friday, the acquittal came when jurors did not believe the victim. “When you allege domestic violence, you need to make sure you have your facts straight,” McClelland said. “Make sure you know what happened and don’t make things up on the stand as you go.”…

…“We’re happy with the outcome,” McClelland said. “The prosecution did a good job.” Muskingum County Prosecutor Michael Haddox said this case was not unlike other domestic violence cases. “You have basically two witnesses,” Haddox said. “The victim and the defendant.”…

…“They didn’t believe the victim,” Haddox said. “It always comes down to whom the jury believes.”
