A young couple, whose identities’ have not been disclosed, became the victims of a violent wake-up call after offering a bit of hospitality to the wife’s ex-girlfriend, 32-year-old Jamie Katro, of Joliet, Illinois.

The husband and wife allowed Katro a stay on their couch, the night of Friday, March 11, at their Tinley Park residence. Apparently the couple had agreed to welcome Katro into their home and also offered to take her to the Secretary of State’s office on Saturday morning so she could obtain the title to her car.

Nearly being murdered doesn’t actually consist of a “call,” but a phone indirectly awoke the husband to the knife-wielding Katro. The husband reported that he awoke at approximately 6:40 a.m. on the morning of March 12 to Katro holding one of the couples’ kitchen knives, standing over their bed and speaking to someone on her cell phone. To whoever was on the other end of the line, Katro apparently stated that she would probably be going to prison for murder.

At that moment the husband sprung from bed to stop Katro’s assault. The scuffle was short and the knife fell to the floor, when the 27-year-old wife then hid the weapon in the couples’ bedroom closet until police arrived. The only injury suffered during the ordeal was a small cut to one of the husband’s fingers, according to the Sun-Times and Fox Chicago.

Jamie Katro, 32, was charged with domestic battery, Tinley Park Police Cmdr. Pat McCain said.
