President Obama’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2012 is proposing a $53 million increase for domestic violence programs at the Department of Justice.  Following is the statement from the President’s budget proposal:

Strengthens Efforts to Combat Violence Against Women. The Budget provides $591 million to strengthen efforts to combat the stagger¬ing level of violence against women—over half a million violent crimes were committed against women by an intimate partner in 2009.
